I love you Rooster Teeth.

Steampunk is kind of a lame term if you ask me, but I don't know what else to call it. Anyways, you remember my last journal where I showed all the modified computers and stuff? Well today, after convincing my mom to buy me two cans of silver and gold spraypaint, I decided to make my own using an old mp3 I had laying around, I didn't want to try it on anything working for fear of ruining it, and after today I realized that that was a correct decision.

Anyways, I took pictures so you could see my progress and managed not to superglue my fingers to the desk. Enjoy.

The before picture

I now begin the process of taking it apart to ready it for spraypaint.

Using some old poker cards and a carpet razor, I cut out a cog design

I now have the spraypaint.
It has begun.

The battery cover, which I spraypainted silver for now.

I put masking tape over the clear area so spraypaint didn't get on it. You can try to read the article about Obama and Cheney in the background if you want do.

These are the buttons, which I made silver

The battery cover and the front panel next to each other

We could only afford two bottles of spray paint, so I had to get creative.

Readying the cog cutout for duty.

With the cutout in place, I am now ready to spraypaint the gold above the silver, the cutout will prevent any gold paint from getting into where I want the cog design.

Using the acrylic paint, I add another cog design, and give it a rusted look.

I now take the paint to the buttons

The end result

NOW shit's going down.

I took the acrylics to a piece of craft wire and began making a frame for the display.

The end results:

And it's steampunk, that is, making shit look all victorian and steam-powered. Tomorrow I'm gonna go out and by some bronze spraypaint and steampunk my old mp3 player, if that comes out nice I might do it to the one i'm using right now, and then over the summer work on doing it to my camera.

Check this shit out:
